Статья посвящена разбору сведений актов Константинопольского патриархата о существовании в середине XIV в. на территории в бассейне Нижнего Дона православного населения и выяснению значимости рассматриваемого материала для изучения проблем, связанных с конфессиональными отношениями в Золотой Орде. Основным документом, анализу которого в статье уделяется главное внимание, является итоговое решение Константинопольского патриарха и Синода по спорному делу об имущественных правах между Донскими священниками и митрополитом Аланийским, датируемое 1356 г.
По ряду вопросов автор, не соглашаясь с мнением предшествующих исследователей, предлагает новые трактовки и оценки. В целом новым подходом является его стремление анализировать информацию, извлекаемую из актов, для понимания процессов трансформации религиозной политики Золотоордынский властителей.
Материал статьи на локальном примере иллюстрирует и дополняет наши представления о процессе развитии конфессиональных отношений в Золотой Орде.
The article is devoted to the dissection of acts of the Constantinople Patriarchate and determining the significance of these materials for studding problems associated with confessional relations in the Golden Horde. It goes without saying, that these documents describe there was the orthodox population in the basin of the Lower Don in the middle of the XIV century. As a matter of fact, the paper is based on the final decision of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the Synod on the disputed matter of property rights between the Don and the Metropolitan Alanya priests, dating back to 1356.
Actually, the author of this text, criticizing opinions of other researchers, proposes new treatments and estimates. Generally, he studies such acts in order to understand the transformation of the religious policy of Golden Horde rulers.
To put it in a nutshell, the article illustrates and supplements our understanding of the development of confessional relations in the Golden Horde.

The article deals with the causes of modern dualistic view of women in media and mass communication. In the article author analyzes the reasons for the transformation of the female image from the time of the Ancient World to the present day. The author addresses issues of social and cultural influence on the distorted view of the function of women in society. A wide range of test materials (folklore, medieval works, materials of media, etc.) makes it possible to draw conclusions on the continuing bifurcation in Summaries - 274 - the perception of the female image and constant presence of the attributes and patterns of social behavior that differ sharply from each other.

The paper deals with the beginning of medieval reception of physiognomics, a specifi c complex of doctrines and knowledge about human body, that, on an individual scale, enabled the adept to judge about what we would call the «character» of an individual. The author analyzes some texts of the 13th century: the «Secret of Secrets» and especially the still unedited «Liber physonomie» by Michael Scot (ca. 1230). Physiognomics was received not at universities, but at the courts of some cultivated seigneurs, ecclesiastical and laic.

The emergence of the Tea Party movement in recent years has shown that under the surface of mainstream political life in the USA there exists a different layer of ideas, which cannot be satisfactorily described in terms of the Republican/Democrat dichotomy. These ideas have their origins in the foundation of the American Republic, which owes a lot to ancient and mediaeval political theory. In the twentieth century there was a revival of these ideas in the form of the so-called “paleoconservative” movements which rediscovered their ancient and mediaeval heritage. This paper focuses on one of them, the Southern Agrarian movement, as exemplary of this radical intellectual project.

This book describes the multifaceted evolution of basic ideas concerning Russia and Europe’s past that were held by citizens of the Russian Empire from the second half of the 18th century to the early 20th century. Unlike a traditional, historiographical review focused only on the evolution of academic science, this one uses a more integrative approach based on a reconstruction of key concepts and mechanisms of historical culture (including education, the church and spiritual schools, museums, historical societies and archeographic institutions, regional communities, etc) The study of historical knowledge is complemented by extensive essays on the evolution of historical consciousness (including its receptive and creative components) and on the dynamics of historical imagination in Russian art and literature of the 18th and 19th centuries.
