Conference Proceedings include the material of presentations made at the 18th Annual Conference of the National Association of Teachers of English in Russia held in Yaroslavl in May, 2012. The report features the experience of mastering the norms of political correctness in the English language by HSE students by means of creative assignments.
The article deals with different ways of using technology to develop learners' skill of prediction, as one of the metalinguistic skills the recent National Educational Standard puts emphasis on. The use of short videos, Power Point and Wordle word clouds for the purpose is described.
