История зарубежной литературы современная английская литература
The chapter characterises the central tendencies, "semantic fields", issues and problems of British literature at the end of XX-beginning of XXI century. Sighnificant attention is given to sicual and historical context as well as the tradition and its continuation. A special focus is the phenomemon of postcolonial literature.
Through the prism of an outstanding novel "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy the chapter characterises contemporary English-language literature. The novel is seen in the English-Indian literary context. Special attention is given to myth and its role in the poetological system of the novel. Thus the term "mythological novel" is elaborated. The leading modelling principle here is the temporal orginisation. The means of relativising the time are analysed. The significance and role of reader are shown. As a result the novel is termed "a memory novel" in the aspect of its genre.
