Синология и японоведение в России и Франции: история и перспективы: сборник статей по материалам международного симпозиума
The collection includes the articles by the orientalists of Russia and France which are devotes to the different aspects of the evolution of Chinese and Japanese studies in these countries nowadays and in the past, and to the problems of interaction between Russian and French traditions of oriental studies as well.
The article clarifies the motives of the discussion between the Chinese philosopher and historian Hu Shi (1891-1961) and the Japanese buddologist Sudzuki Daisetsu Teitaro (1870-1966) on the Chan/Dzen-Buddhism, when Sudzuki advocated the idea of incarnation of Buddhist eternal Destiny in Chan, but was accused of antihistorism by Hu Shi. In the authors opinion, the discussion was sharp so much, because of not very methodological differences, but for the reason of divergences between the cultural outlooks. These divergences caused the incompatience of the Hu Shi's concepts of the specific nature and the world role of the Chinese Philisophy, on the one hand, and the preacher's and proponent's zeal of Sudzuki, on the other hand.
