Road Injuries Leading Cause of Death Among Men Aged 10 to 39
Worldwide, road injuries are the leading cause of death among males aged 10–39. An international team of researchers reached this conclusion as part of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023, analysing data from 204 countries between 1990 and 2023. Their findings have been published in The Lancet Public Health, with HSE University Professor Vasily Vlassov listed among the collaborators.

‘Our Team Consists of True Leaders in Their Respective Academic Disciplines
The HSE International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis studies a wide range of methods for analysing decision-making and possible scenarios for the development of natural, socio-economic, and political phenomena using various mathematical models. The application of advanced mathematical methods to forecasting helps to prevent negative outcomes and avoid erroneous decisions. The HSE News Service spoke to the centre’s director, Prof. Fuad Aleskerov, about its work.

Invariants of magnetic lines for Yang-Mills solutions

Journal of Geometry and Physics. 2024. Vol. 198. Article 105102.
P. M. Akhmet'ev, Dvornikov M. S.

We construct a new Yang-Mills 3D-solution on the space of negative scalar curvature. We
discuss a problem of non-abelian gauge symmetry is broken with the assumption that
a scalar curvature of the domain is a negative small parameter. In this case we use the
following fact: a geometrical scale related with Vassiliev’s discriminant of magnetic lines
coincides with a physical Kolmogorov scale. This gives an estimation of α-effect by the
dispersion of the asymptotic ergodic Hopf invariant in the asymptotic limit with a negative
scalar curvature parameter.

Wu Z., Yu Y., Чибисов А. Н., Materials Today Energy 2023 Vol. 37 Article 101414
The limited availability of lithium metal resources has led to the development of sodium/potassium-ion batteries due to the abundance and low cost of sodium/potassium. However, finding suitable cathode materials with high capacity, stable cycling performance, and efficient electrochemical interface is still challenging. Herein, the honeycomb layered structures of P2-type A2Ni2TeO6 (A = Na, K) have been explored ...

This article concerns the study of modulational instability in the rotated-modified Gardner–Whitham (rmGW) equation. This model incorporates both quadratic and cubic nonlinearities, similarly to the Gardner equation, while also retaining the fully dispersive character of the Whitham equation together with a large-scale dispersive term analogous to that in the Ostrovsky equation. Using a classical multiple-scale asymptotic expansion, we ...
