The Feature Selection Method Based on a Probabilistic Approach and a Cross-Entropy Metric for the Image Recognition Problem
Scientific and Technical Information Processing. 2021. Vol. 48. No. 6. P. 430–435.
This paper considers the problem of feature selection in the classification problem. A method for selecting informative features based on a probabilistic approach and cross-entropy metrics is proposed. Several variants of the information criterion for selecting features for a binary classification problem are considered, as well as its generalization to the case of a multiclass problem. Demonstration examples of the proposed method for the task of image recognition from the mnist collection are given.

The EAEU and the CSTO are Russia’s principal regional international organisations. Understanding, assessing, and analysing the foreign-policy positions of the countries that belong to them is a matter of the state’s national interests. This determines the purpose of the study: to identify the level and the form of cohesion in the voting of EAEU and ...

In this follow-up paper we show that smooth Hodge-proper stacks over O𝐾 are ℚ𝑝-locally acyclic: namely the natural map between étale ℚ𝑝-cohomology of the algebraic and Raynaud generic fibers is an equivalence. This establishes the ℚ𝑝-case of general conjectures made in D. Kubrak and A. Prikhodko [p-adic Hodge theory for Artin stacks, Mem. Amer. Math. ...

The measure of the positivity set {x ∈ [0; 2π] | f (x) > 0} of a trigonometric polynomial f is bounded from below by the Motzkin density.
We generalize the bound to polynomials in several variables and almost periodic functions.
We then use these generalizations to extend known results on Taikov’s problem. ...

Oil spill segmentation in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is limited by noisy annotations in publicly available datasets and by architectural choices that interact with label quality in opposing directions. First, we introduce a manually refined version of the Deep-SAR Oil Spill (SOS) dataset, in which 36.25% of masks are corrected for false positives, missed ...

We develop a neural network approach to solve the self-consistent Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations in strongly disordered s-wave superconductors. The method accurately reproduces inhomogeneous gap distributions and generalizes to system sizes far larger than those used in training. It reduces computational scaling from O(N6 ) to O(N2), enabling quantitative analysis of percolation phenomena and the superconductor-insulator ...

When the number of iterations n is known in advance, ...

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) analysis from two-dimensional (2D) clinical imaging is hindered by uncontrolled slice tilt and geometric inconsistencies that violate the assumptions of pose-agnostic deep learning (DL) models. This paper proposes a unified geometry-aware, frequency-domain framework for tilted slice localization and ischemic stroke segmentation that explicitly decouples pose estimation from lesion analysis. The method ...

We argue that a classification-based approach to measuring cultural differences across countries or subnational regions is a promising complement, and sometimes an alternative, to the widely used dimensional method in cross-cultural research. The latter summarises cultural variation using continuous dimensions, for example, Hofstede’s famous individualism-collectivism dimension. However, this approach relies on strong parametric assumptions, which are ...

Because the brain is an extremely complex hypernet of interacting macroscopic subnetworks, full-scale analysis of brain activity is a daunting task. We study topological properties of automorphisms of a 6-dimensional torus $\T^6$ generated by integer matrices with simple eigenvalues being symplectic with respect to either the standard symplectic structure in $\R^6$ or a nonstandard symplectic structure given by an integer skew-symmetric non-degenerate matrix. Such a symplectic matrix generates a partially hyperbolic automorphism of the torus, if its eigenvalues lie both ...

Based upon variational inference (VI) a new set of classification algorithms has recently emerged. This set of algorithms aims (A) to increase generalization power, (B) to decrease computational complexity. However, the complex math and implementation considerations have led to the emergence of black-box variational inference methods (BBVI). Relying on these principles, we assume the existence ...
