Современные исследования олимпийских волонтеров
In recent years, more and more public attention has been paid to major sporting events, along with the growing popularity of volunteering at such mega-events as the Olympic and/or Paralympic Games, and research interest in participants in Olympic volunteer programs is also growing. The involvement of volunteers for the preparation and holding of major sporting events is a practice implemented in various countries that host sporting events of this level on their territory. The Olympic and Paralympic Games are associated with major changes (economic, social, cultural, etc.) in the territory that serves as the venue for these events. The effects of these events are of research interest, including volunteerism. The article provides an overview of contemporary Russian and international research on volunteers who participate in the organization and hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Based on a review of the existing literature on the study of the Olympic volunteer community, it was found that the main research questions include volunteer motivation, incentives and barriers to participation in Olympic volunteer programs, and volunteer satisfaction with participation in Olympic events. Relevance of the study of volunteers participating in the preparation and holding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is due to the global coverage of the Olympic movement, the scale of the Olympic events, the growing number of Olympic volunteers. In addition, the existing base of research on Olympic volunteers can be used for future comparative cross-country studies and national features of Olympic volunteer programs.
