‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Что такое Свобода? Свобода воли, свободы личности, конституционная модель и законодательное регулирование
Момджян К. Х., Кржевов В. С., Poddiakov A. et al., М.: Новые печатные технологии, 2025.
При всей кажущейся ясности и недвусмысленности понятия «свобода» дать ему исчерпывающую научную дефиницию весьма затруднительно. У каждой отрасли знания свой подход к трактовке этого многоаспектного понятия. В ходе обсуждения, материалы которого вошли в настоящий сборник, свобода рассматривается с позиций философии, социологии, юриспруденции, психологии, нейрофизиологии и т.д. Участники дискуссии рассуждают о границах свободы воли и субъектности человека, о соотношении свободы и ...

Self-esteem and self-reported personality traits: When attitudes toward traits make a difference
Shchebetenko S., De Marchis G., / Series PsyArXiv "PsyArXiv". 2026.
Personality questionnaires do not directly record recurring conduct. Rather, they elicit task-bounded reports of personality attributions: how respondents characterise themselves using personality-descriptive content. From this perspective, established associations between self-esteem and self-reported personality may depend on the evaluative meaning attached to that content. We tested whether attitudes toward the Big Five traits moderated associations between self-esteem and corresponding personality reports ...

Hypergraphs from multivariate connectivity: caCOH-based EEG/MEG representation
Vlasenko D., Saranskaia I., Zakharov D., European Physical Journal: Special Topics 2026 P. 1–16
Hypergraphs provide a natural framework for representing neurophysiological interactions distributed across sets of sensors. A key methodological question is how hyperedges should be defined from frequency-resolved electroencephalography/magnetoencephalography (EEG/MEG) data. We demonstrate a construction strategy in which hyperedges are obtained from canonical coherence (caCOH), an extension of coherence that estimates coupling between multidimensional signal spaces. To ...

Motor resonance and inhibitory mechanisms in action observation as revealed by corticospinal excitability
Carlos Nieto-Doval, Aynur Ragimova, Gleb Perevoznyuk et al., Scientific Reports 2025 Vol. 15 Article 23245
Motor resonance (MoR) refers to the automatic activation of motor circuits during action observation, reflecting an internal simulation of the observed movement. This phenomenon is thought to arise from the activity of mirror neuron regions, which modulate primary motor cortex (M1) excitability via cortico-cortical pathways. MoR, which is believed to be involved in the mechanism underlying action understanding ...
