Статьи В. Ф. Ходасевича 1908 - 1914 годов: критика прогресса, "мещанства" и поиск новой эстетики

This article explores V. F. Khodasevich’s critical essays written in 1908–1914. After the publication of his first poetic book, during the period of crisis of the symbolism, critic began to work with newspapers. He created several articles about progress (about the development of the North Pole and the first flights) and about the “meshchanstvo” (“philistinism”). In 1910–1912 he wrote essays about social problems. The research of the literary context in which Khodasevich created his articles, shows that essays on different themes were the material in which he tried to find new strategy to overcome the crisis of symbolism. During this period he formulated new aesthetic program, which will affect all his critical essays and poetry.
