Личные местоимения в жестовых языках: часть языка или жестикуляция?
This article is an overview of different approaches to personal pronouns in sign languages (SLs). Namely, I concentrate on similarities and differences between SLs pronouns and pointing gestures in spoken languages. They have similar configurations and their orientation depends on the position of their referents. However, SLs pronouns are more conventionalized, as compared to pointing gestures, and they bear grammatical meaning, thus being part of a language system, but not gestures.
