A strong ideological component is a distinguishing feature of the domestic and foreign policies of modern Venezuela. And the left Latin American movement and the traditions of the Comintern played a special role in the formation of the concepts of the leadership of the Bolivarian Republic. The main tenets of the governments of U. Chávez and N. Maduro are analyzed in this article, their connection with the legacy of the Third International are come to light.
