Mentoring is a social practice that has powerful cultural and historical roots and traditions that have changed across different areas of implementation over several centuries. Currently, we can see a surge of interest in mentoring, especially in the practice of research and project training. We present the first part of the materials of the Researcher journal in the context of the central question of the issue — mentoring, as well as other subjects associated with it.
