This article examines the actual problems of foreign citizens’ employment in Russia. The authors focus on such issues as the specific characteristics of conclusion and changing of the employment contract with a foreign citizen, legal requirements for obtaining patents and work permits, the feature of the legal status of different categories of foreign employees, in particular highly qualified specialists and foreign citizens who participate in the State program of voluntary resettlement of compatriots who are living abroad in the Russian Federation. Based on the analysis of legislation, court practice and official data of migration registration there offer original solutions to existing problems.
