Formed in XIX century "manifest destiny" (carrying other peoples freedom and democracy) at the beginning of the next century was transformed into the idea of world hegemony and domination. Today the foreign policy doctrine and a national American idea was the process of globalization, or the arrangement of the world-American - world project, Pax Americana.
