The paper views the role of historical events, particularly in 1917, in the Russian language consciousness of young people in the period of self-identity . The study was conducted in two phases: a mass survey and focus group interviews and analysis of content dedicated to 1917, collected from Facebook, VKontakte, Livejournal. Content analysis was used for the analysis. Processing of the data was carried out using the Automap and Tableau Public software. As a result, it was found that the content is devoted to the events of the Great October Socialist Revolution, it does not occupy a large place in the modern communicative space. Mixing facts from different historical periods in the users generating content associated with the events of 1917, which is created by the young people and in their language consciousness indicates an incorrect interpretation
