Codex Tischendorfianus 1, Rediscovered and Revisited
The purpose of the paper is to report the rediscovery of the important Tischendorf’s folios and to offer a re-edition. Although Tischendorf’s transcription, published in Monumenta sacra inedita (Leipzig 1846) 1–10, is fairly accurate, a re-examination of the manuscript has revealed some infelicities and omissions. In particular, Tischendorf left out various diacritical and lectional signs, which we have attempted to record, to the extent that the writing permits. Of special interest is also the style of the script, the so-called sloping pointed majuscule. A brief survey is done in an attempt to establish a chronological framework for the codex. Finally, the possible function of the marginalia and punctuation marks is discussed.
