Right Intentions

P. 73-101.
Kashnikov B., Coppieters B.

The Principle of Right Intentions is closely related to the Just Cause Principle. To some extent it may be called the subjective principle of Just War Theory. It must, however, be regarded as a moral principle that stands on its own. A nation may have a just cause, for instance, but no intention of going to war. Furthermore, the intention to go to war may have very little to do with a just cause, even if such a reason is, in some sense, objectively present.
