Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Analytical solution of coupled self-consistency and linearized Usadel equations for dirty superconductors near 𝑇𝑐 and with the proximity effect
S. S. Seidov, N. G. Pugach, Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2026 Vol. 114 No. 7 Article 074504
In this manuscript we consider a superconducting film in the vicinity of the critical temperature and presence of the proximity effect. We analytically solve the corresponding linearized Usadel equation and the self-consistency equation, defining the critical temperature. This is a system of coupled differential and integral equations for the anomalous Green's function and the order parameter of ...

Proximity-effect engineering in aluminum-based planar Josephson junctions with intrinsic superconductivity
Polevoy K. B., Bakurskiy S. V., Ruzhickiy V. I. et al., Physical Review Applied 2026 Vol. 25 P. 024030-1–024030-12
We present a comprehensive study of planar Nb-Al-Nb Josephson junctions with submicrometer dimen sions (L ≈ 100 nm, active area of approximately 5 × 104 nm2), where the intrinsic superconductivity of the aluminum weak link plays a crucial role in enhancing device performance. Through a combi nation of theoretical modeling and experimental characterization, we demonstrate ...

Strain-induced superconducting proximity effect in the topological insulator TaSe3
Lukmanova R.M., Cohn I.A., Minakova V. E. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2025 Vol. 111 No. 22 Article 224510
The magnetoresistance of superconductor–topological insulator–superconductor structures, with indium as the superconductor and TaSe3 as the topological insulator, shows steplike features on the resistance under magnetic fields. These resistance steps result from the suppression of superconductivity, induced by the superconducting proximity effect in both the bulk and surface states of the topological insulator. The position and ...

Practical way to increase nonlinearity of kinetic inductance of superconductor
Korneeva Y. P., Dryazgov M. A., Trofimov I. V. et al., Superconductor Science and Technology 2025 Vol. 38 No. 7 Article 075016
This work demonstrates that depositing a thin layer of Mo (5–15 nm) onto a 10 nm thick NbN strip leads to a significant increase in the nonlinearity of the kinetic inductance . Specifically, the change in  with increasing current reached 70% in the NbN/Mo bilayer at liquid helium temperature, whereas in the NbN strip,  changed by only 10% ...

Hybrid collective excitations in topological superconductor/ferromagnetic insulator heterostructures
T. Karabassov, I. V. Bobkova, Bobkov A. M. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2026 Vol. 113 No. 10 Article 104514
We develop a linear response theory for the dynamical proximity effect in topological superconductor/ferromagnetic insulator (TS/FI) hybrids. Our approach integrates the nonequilibrium quasiclassical Keldysh-Usadel formalism for the TS with the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation for the FI's magnetization dynamics. This framework reveals a proximity-induced coupling between magnons and superconducting collective modes. Crucially, we find that spin-momentum locking in ...

Shapiro Steps in ballistic Josephson junction based on a single Bi2Te2.3Se0.7 nanocrystal
Stolyarov V. S., Kozlov S. N., Yakovlev D. S. et al., Communications Materials 2026 Vol. 7 Article 91
Superconducting proximity junctions based on topological insulators are widely believed to harbor Majorana-like bound states. If so, the static current phase relationship (CPR) should have a 4π-periodic component. It is then usually assumed that the static CPR can be extended to treat dynamic, voltage-biased, experiments and can justify the suppression of the first phase-lock-in microwave ...

Geometry-controlled engineering of the low-temperature proximity effect in normal metal–superconductor junctions
Tomayeva M., Vyacheslav D. Neverov, Andrey V. Krasavin et al., Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology 2025 Vol. 16 P. 2265–2273
In the ballistic regime at finite temperatures, the proximity effect diminishes following an exponential pattern; however, at low or zero temperatures, this transition alters to a decay characterized by a power law with a dimensionality-dependent exponent. Here, we extend the current understanding of the proximity effect by exploring the role of normal metal–superconductor (NS) junction ...

Kamashev A. A., Garif’yanov N. N., Validov A. A. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2025 Vol. 112 No. 13 Article 134509
The structures of the superconducting spin valve (SSV) Fe/Si3N4/Pb/Si3N4/Fe (where Si3N4 is a dielectric insulating layer of controlled thickness) were investigated. The dependence of the magnitude of the SSV effect on the thicknesses of the superconducting (S) and insulating (I) layers was studied. Optimization of the S and I layer thicknesses enabled a complete switching between the normal ...

D. V. Seleznev, S. S. Seidov, N. G. Pugach et al., Journal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism 2024 Vol. 38 Article 9
We consider a spin valve composed of a superconducting film (S) between two ferromagnetic insulators (FI) on two sides. In the dirty limit the superconductor is described by Usadel equations. Appropriate boundary conditions were chosen for two S--FI interfaces, which are described via the interface parameter spin mixing angle. By numerically solving the Usadel equations, ...

Superconducting spin valve effect in Co/Pb/Co heterostructures with insulating interlayers
Kamashev A., Garif’yanov N., Validov A. et al., Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology 2024 Vol. 15 P. 457–464
We report the superconducting properties of Co/Pb/Co heterostructures with thin insulating interlayers. The main specific feature of these structures is the intentional oxidation of both superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F) interfaces. We study the variation of the critical temperature of our systems due to switching between parallel and antiparallel configurations of the magnetizations of the two magnetic layers. ...
