Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

Regularity of the inverse of a homeomorphism of a Sobolev–Orlicz space

Siberian Mathematical Journal. 2017. Vol. 58. No. 4. P. 649–662.
Menovshchikov A.

Given a homeomorphism $\varphi \in W^{1,M}$ , we determine the conditions that guarantee the belonging of the inverse of $\varphi$ in some Sobolev–Orlicz space $W^{1,F}$ . We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions under which a homeomorphism of domains in a Euclidean space induces the bounded composition operator of Sobolev–Orlicz spaces defined by a special class of N-functions. Using these results, we establish requirements on a mapping under which the inverse homeomorphism also induces the bounded composition operator of another pair of Sobolev–Orlicz spaces which is defined by the first pair.

Composition operators in Orlicz–Sobolev spaces
Menovshchikov A., Siberian Mathematical Journal 2016 Vol. 57 No. 5 P. 849–859
We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a homeomorphism of domains in a Euclidean space to generate a bounded embedding operator of the Orlicz–Sobolev spaces defined by a special class of N-functions. ...

The Lower Semicontinuity of Distortion Coefficients of the Homeomorphisms Inducing Bounded Composition Operators of Sobolev–Orlicz Spaces
Menovshchikov A., Siberian Mathematical Journal 2018 Vol. 59 No. 2 P. 332–340
We determine the conditions under which the locally uniform limit of mappings generating bounded composition operators of Sobolev–Orlicz spaces also generates an operator of this kind. We estimate the distortion coefficient of the limit mapping. ...

Bounded Operators on Mixed Norm Lebesgue Spaces
Evseev N., Menovshchikov A., Complex Analysis and Operator Theory 2018 Vol. 13 No. 5 P. 2239–2258
We study two classes of bounded operators on mixed norm Lebesgue spaces, namely composition operators and product operators. A complete description of bounded composition operators on mixed norm Lebesgue spaces are given (in the case when the inducing mapping preserve the priority of variables). For a certain class of integral operators, we provide sufficient conditions ...

The Composition Operator on Mixed-Norm Lebesgue Spaces
Evseev N., Menovshchikov A., Mathematical notes 2019 Vol. 105 No. 5-6 P. 812–817
It is known that the boundedness of the composition operator on Lebesgue spaces is equivalent to the integrability of the volume derivative of the measurable mapping inducing the given operator. In the present paper, we prove a similar result for mixed-norm Lebesgue spaces in the class of mappings preserving the priority of the variables. ...

On Changing Variables in Lp-Spaces with Distributed-Microstructure
Evseev N., Menovshchikov A., Russian Mathematics 2020 Vol. 64 No. 3 P. 82–86
We study the boundedness of the composition operator in the spaces $L^p(V, W^{1,r}(Y_v))$. Such spaces arise when modeling the transport processes in a porous medium. It is assumed that the operator is induced by a mapping preserving the priority of the variables, which agrees with the physical requirements for the model. ...

Decomposable operators acting between distinct L^p-direct integrals of Banach spaces
Evseev N., Menovshchikov A., Analysis Mathematica 2024 Vol. 50 No. 3 P. 861–892
The notion of decomposable operators acting between distinct $L^p$-direct integrals of Banach spaces is introduced. We show that these operators generalize the composition operator in the sense that a binary relation replaces a mapping. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness of those operators are the main results of the paper. ...
