Investigation of Transit Channel Influence on Rectangular Chain of Coupled Cavities Slow-Wave Structure
In this paper, the slow-wave structures (SWSs) of the “chain of coupled cavities”-type (CCC) were investigated. This type of SWS is widely used for designing the microwave amplifying devices due to their excellent heat dissipation properties allowing for higher output power. The influence of the transit channel, where the electron beam propagates, on the electrodynamic characteristics of the rectangular CCC-type SWS was analysed. Two different forms of the transit channel were considered: for pencil beam and for sheet beam. The 3D modeling in HFSS and processing of the results in MATLAB were performed. It is demonstrated that the presence of the transit channel influences the characteristic impedance and the dispersion characteristics of SWS.
