Особенности функционирования цифровых кампусов и онлайн-программ магистратуры: анализ российского и зарубежного опыта
This issue presents the findings of a study on characteristics of graduate online programmes in Russia and abroad, as well the insights of how digital campuses around the world function. In the first part of the issue an attempt to understand the functions of digital campuses across Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia is made. Along with service, academic, and other practices, organisational and structural aspects of the campuses are outlined. The findings demonstrate that there are notable differences between digital campuses across the regions. For example, departments of European and South American universities are double smaller compared to those in North America. Campuses may be accountable to the management of individual departments or to the general university administration. Graduate degrees are offered online in more quantity than undergraduate programmes in the majority of digital campuses. The main objective of the second part of the issue is to investigate the online graduate degrees that Russian and foreign universities offer. The sample includes all Russian online programmes that were found and 30 programmes from universities in Europe, America, and Asia. As a result, the most widespread fields of study, the specifics of programme implementation, and the distinctions between offline and online programmes are elicited. The findings indicate that “Economics and management” is the most popular field of study both in Russia and abroad. Programme structure is less rigid in foreign universities than in Russian. This is primarily related to the duration of study and to how intensive the curriculum is. Most students at international universities study on a self-funded basis. Online and offline programmes abroad require students to pay the same fee. However, in Russia it is more common to set lower study fees for online mode than for offline.
