Применение метода сторителлинга (TPRS) для развития устно-речевых умений школьников
The article examines the effectiveness of the TPRS method (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) on the development of speaking skills. Having been proven effective in multifarious educational contexts around the world, TPRS is barely used in the Russian educational environment. This paper sets out to address this research gap. It was hypothesized that the use of TPRS with Russian lower level secondary school students would contribute to the development of their monological speaking skills. To prove it true there was created a set of materials for four consecutive lessons which were later tested on a group of K-6 students at school №1258, Moscow, Russia. The materials took into account both the fundamental principles of TPRS and preadolescents’ psychological characteristics. Students’ speaking skills were assessed before and after the experiment. According to the results, not only has the use of TPRS boosted students' speaking skills, but it has also inspired their motivation and active participation in class. Key words.
