Foucault's writings on power theory describe how power affects the subject and influences the constitution of his subjectivity. His most recent works outline the possibility of the subject to distance himself from these forms of externally determined subjectivity and to initiate a process of self-determination.
This text aims to reconstruct Foucault's conception of such a self-determination process. It becomes clear that the idea of subjugation is already implicit in the genealogical writings.
