The article deals with specific features of teaching a professional course in English for students of philology from China. The importance of this issue is connected with several factors including the rising number of Chinese students in Russian universities, the language barrier, typological differences between the Chinese and English languages, and the problems of intercultural communication. The author analyses the identified problems and suggests solutions in the frame of the professional course “English for Philologists” adapted for teaching students from China.
