The book “The current situation of compatriots living in the countries of the post-Soviet space: a comparative analysis” contains the results of a study conducted in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Transnistrian Republic of Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Estonia. The study was carried out by the Institute of Diaspora and Integration (Institute of the CIS countries) in 2021–2022. It included an analysis of normative and legal acts regulating the use of the Russian language in the countries studied, the results of a sociological survey among groups of the population who refer to themselves as Russian compatriots, and a review of previous studies on the problem of Russian language use and its functioning in various spheres of public life. The book is of interest to state and public bodies dealing with the legal protection of compatriots living abroad, as well as to researchers of the Russian diaspora.
