Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Contribution of attentional mechanisms to verbal and nonverbal communication in boys with ASD
Minnigulova A., Dragoy O., Arutiunian V., European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry 2026
Communication deficits in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) involve impairments in both verbal and nonverbal domains, potentially associated with altered brain network connectivity related to language, attention, and social cognition systems. This study investigated functional connectivity patterns among the Default Mode Network (DMN), Salience Network (SN), Dorsal Attention Network (DAN), and Language Network (LN) in male children ...

Психофизиологические механизмы внутреннего проговаривания фонем
Вартанов А. В., Шевченко А. О., Вестник Московского университета. Серия 14: Психология 2022 № 1 С. 201–220
Relevance. The problem of identifying the cerebral mechanisms of internal speech (spoken words or even individual sounds — phonemes) based on the electrical activity of the brain is relevant and significant for a number of practical applications, in particular for improving the construction of brain-computer interfaces. Target. Electroencephalographic research is aimed at identifying the cerebral mechanisms of internal speech, taking into ...

Context-dependent PSIICOS: A novel framework for functional connectivity estimation accounting for task-related power leakage
Kleeva D., Alexei Ossadtchi, Neuroimage 2025 Vol. 316 Article 121268
Functional connectivity (FC) analysis using non-invasive neuroimaging methods, such as MEG and EEG, is often confounded by artifacts from spatial leakage and task-related power modulations. To address these limitations, we present Context-Dependent PSIICOS (CD-PSIICOS), a novel framework that improves the estimation of FC by incorporating task-specific cortical power distributions into the projection operator applied to ...

Functional Brain Connectivity and Musical Training: Insights from EEG Phase Synchronization During Music Perception
Проворова А. А., Kulikova S., / Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Серия 005140 "Biorxiv". 2024.
Musical training profoundly impacts brain organization, fostering functional and structural adaptations that enhance auditory, motor, and cognitive processes. This study investigates functional connectivity differences between professional musicians and non-musicians during tasks involving music perception and different graphic notations. Using EEG phase-locking value (PLV) analysis, we examined synchronization across alpha, beta, and gamma frequency bands. Results ...

PSIICOS projection optimality for EEG and MEG based functional coupling detection
Altukhov D., Kleeva D., Ossadtchi A., Neuroimage 2023 Vol. 280 Article 120333
Functional connectivity is crucial for cognitive processes in the healthy brain and serves as a marker for a range of neuropathological conditions. Non-invasive exploration of functional coupling using temporally resolved techniques such as MEG allows for a unique opportunity of exploring this fundamental brain mechanism. The indirect nature of MEG measurements complicates the estimation of functional coupling due to the volume ...
