The article describes an interview analysis with one of the first people who was diagnosed with HIV infection in the Soviet Union. Based on the vocabularies of motive by C.W. Mills are proposed to distinguish between two types of social encounters’ accounts: justifications and excuses. The way of avoiding accounts of social encounters is specified. Following L.N. Kogan's «The role of the industrial collective in the cultural activity of the worker» some conclusions are clarified in.
