In this study, the author defines human consciousness as an economic category. Considering the achievements of economic science, the author comes to the conclusion that there is a gap in its foundation. That is why all the results achieved by mankind are not sustainable. The missing element of the foundation of economic science, which makes it possible to remove contradictions and link all the results achieved by economic science into one whole, serving for the benefit of all mankind, is human consciousness. Without this economic category, humanity will never get out of the constant struggle for survival, will never achieve sustainable results in the form of well-being, prosperity, an increase in the quality of life and the realization of its potential.
