HSE Economists Use Search Queries to Forecast Birth Rates
Researchers from the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences have shown that the accuracy of birth rate forecasts for Russia can be improved by almost 50% by incorporating the dynamics of online search queries related to pregnancy and childbirth into forecasting models. In the best-performing models, the forecasting error fell from 4.6% to 3.2%. The findings have been published in Populations and Economics.

HSE Researchers Discover Who Eats Out in Russia-And Why
Around one-third of Russians (31.3%) rarely eat out or buy ready-made meals. The core group of active consumers—those who eat out or purchase prepared food almost every day or several times a week—accounts for only about 9% of the population. These are the findings of a study conducted by the HSE Institute for Social Policy. According to the researchers eating out is no longer a marker of high social status in Russia.

Modal Products and Around
Shehtman V. B., Gagarin A., , in: Graph Games and Logic Design. Recent Developments and Further Directions. (TREN, volume 66)Vol. 66.: Springer, 2026. Ch. 17 P. 419–450.
The chapter contains an overview of results on products of propositional modal logics and related constructions: semiproducts, Segerberg squares, and others. We focus mainly on axiomatizations, finite model property, and decidability; we also sketch connections with classical and modal predicate logics. In some cases we give ideas of proofs, especially of those using games. ...

Springer, 2026.
This book presents established and new research on the close connections between graph games and systems of logic, particularly existing and newly designed modal logics. The volume utilizes two graph games – the sabotage game and the hide-and-seek game – to demonstrate the natural interplay between designing new graph games and exploring new kinds of ...

PARTICLE TRANSPORT WITH FINITE FILTRATION TIME
Kuzmina L., Osipov Y. V., International Journal for Computational Civil and Structural Engineering 2025 Vol. 21 No. 3 P. 135–147
Abstract: Particle transport by a fluid flow occurs in many applied construction problems, including pumping mortar into porous soil, creating watertight diaphragm walls, and constructing dams and underwater structures. A model of deep bed filtration of suspensions and colloids in a homogeneous porous medium with a finite number of vacancies for retained particles is considered. ...

We study a model problem on the filtration of a conducting fluid through a porous layer. A porous medium is presented as an assemblage of identical spherical cells. Each cell consists of a porous core and liquid shell. We show the dependence of each flow parameter on the Debye radius which characterizes how far the influence of a charge ...

Two Types of Filtrations for wK4 and Its Relatives
Kudinov A., Shapirovsky I., Studia Logica 2025 P. 1–25
We study the finite model property of subframe logics with expressible transitive reflexive closure modality. For m > 0, let Lm be the logic defined by axiom ♦^{m+1}p → ♦p ∨ p. We construct quotient filtrations for the logics Lm, which implies that these logics and their tense counterparts have the finite model property. Then, we construct selective filtrations ...

Сурова С. В., Furmanov K. K., Известия Дальневосточного федерального университета. Экономика и управление 2024 № 1 С. 80–90
We consider a simple exponential queueing system with a finite capacity and heterogeneous customers. Type I customers are patient, they join the queue if the system capacity allows it. Type II customers are impatient, so that they refuse to join the queue if the waiting time is too large (so-called wait-based balking). The system makes profit ...

Model Of Cake Filtration In Porous Medium
Liudmila I. Kuzmina, Osipov Y., International Journal for Computational Civil and Structural Engineering 2024 Vol. 20 No. 3 P. 116–124
Strengthening of loose soil and creation of water-resistant underground walls are associated with filtration of small particles in a porous medium. Liquid solution pumped into a well under pressure spreads through hollow channels and strengthens the soil upon hardening. Many porous filters retain particles near the entrance. The particles deposited on the filter surface form ...

We study products of unimodal logics characterized by classes of Kripke frames defined by universal Horn formulas, classifying them with respect to the finite model property (FMP). Further, we show that products of modal logics defined only with variable-free axioms have the FMP. We also provide a partial result regarding products of logics with both Horn and variable-free axioms. ...

Deep bed filtration model for cake filtration and erosion
L. I. Kuzmina, Osipov Y. V., Pesterev A. R., Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (English Edition) 2024 Vol. 45 No. 2 P. 355–372
Many phenomena in nature and technology are associated with the filtration of suspensions and colloids in porous media. Two main types of particle deposition, namely, cake filtration at the inlet and deep bed filtration throughout the entire porous medium, are studied by different models. A unified approach for the transport and deposition of particles based ...

Filtering fluids with tiny particles in porous media occurs in many technological processes of environmental and civil engineering. To strengthen the foundation, a slurry is pumped into loose rock and, when hardened, strengthens it. Deep bed filtration is accompanied by the retention of particles. Various forces act on the particles and cause them to settle ...

There exist several equivalent equations for the Poincaré series of a collection of valuations on the ring of germs of functions on a complex analytic variety. We give definitions of the Poincaé series of a collection of valuations in the real setting (i.e., on the ring of germs of functions on a real analytic variety), ...

Let M be a local martingale with respect to a so-called single jump filtration F = F(г ,F ) generated by a random time г on a probability space (Omega,F ,P). Filtration problems arise in the design of tunnels and underground structures. A onedimensional filtration model of a monodisperse suspension in a homogeneous porous medium is considered. For a general nonlinear filtration function, an asymptotic solution is constructed behind the concentrations front of suspended and retained particles. It is shown that the asymptotics is close to the numerical solution. Comparison ...
