This volume of the textbook “Comparative History of Foreign Law” is devoted to the transformation of leading legal traditions in the conditions of modernization, the transformation of agrarian societies into industrial ones, the emergence of nations and national states. It examines the formation and development of the most influential national legal traditions of England (Great Britain), the USA, France and Germany, which determined the models and legal style of Western law. The legal modernization of Japan, China, India, and the countries of the Middle East is presented as a result of reception and adaptation in the context of Eastern traditions of elements of Romano-Germanic, Anglo-American and Soviet law.
