The article deals with the issue of periodization of the historical development of Indian criminal law in terms of criminal liability for economic-related offences. The author proposes to determine four historical stages, each of which corresponds to sources of criminal law existed at that time: the stage of sources of Hindu criminal law, the stage of sources of Islamic criminal law, the stage of sources of Anglo-Saxon criminal law, the stage of sources of national criminal law of India. Specific norms of criminal law on economic-related offences are analyzed in relation to each of those stages.
