The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the game-theoretic modeling method in the field of research on the interaction between government and youth. Modeling is built on the premise that agents are rational. Based on a comparison of the theoretical foundations of the methodologies of rational choice, behaviorism and game theory, the main advantage of game-theoretic modeling was revealed - practical applicability in the formation of public policy. This property is also confirmed by the analysis of publications in the field of interaction between the authorities and youth in Russia.
