Analytical Model of 5G V2X Mode 2 for Sporadic Traffic

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. 2023. Vol. 12. No. 8. P. 1449–1453.
Bankov D., Khorov E., Krasilov A., Otmakhov A.

5G Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) is a promising technology to satisfy the increasing demands of intelligent transportation systems. Emerging V2X applications with a high level of automation impose very strict requirements on latency (less than 10 ms) and reliability (higher than 99.99%). For sporadic traffic, such demands can be satisfied with a distributed channel access method called Mode 2. The letter proposes an analytical model of Mode 2 that estimates the packet loss rate and the network capacity taking into account the peculiarities of Mode 2 and — in contrast to the existing models — provides the accuracy required in the emerging V2X scenarios. The model can be used to find the optimal transmission parameters that maximize the network capacity and/or to select the required bandwidth.

Effects of Elevation Changes and Multilevel Structures on Vehicular Signal Propagation
Stepanyants V., Andrey V. Fizulin, Chibirov A. et al., FUTURE TRANSPORTATION 2026 Vol. 6 No. 5 Article 225
Reliable Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) evaluation requires propagation models that represent terrain and multilevel infrastructure. Most integrated vehicular simulators still rely on planar models, but the magnitude of the resulting bias is unclear. This study quantitatively compares flattened two-dimensional (2D) and terrain-aware three-dimensional (3D) variants of three scenarios using identical Sionna RT settings. The pipeline combines OpenStreetMap ...

Ozhegov R., Махлуф М., Goltsman G. et al., Инженерная физика 2026 № 8 С. 27–39
This paper investigates the theoretical limits of object detection within isotropic scattering media using single-photon lidar. Within a simplified model, we derive the fundamental relationship between the maximum attainable detection range and the required photon count per pulse. Two distinct limiting regimes are analyzed: the ballistic photon regime, which maintains high spatial resolution but necessitates ...

Automated Ranking of Soybean Plots from Close-Range RGB Video via Depth Filtering and Point-Based Counting
Groshev Maksim, Rybakov Petr, Teterin N. et al., Sensors 2026 Article 6171
Manual assessment of soybean yield components, such as pod number, is laborious, time-consuming, and subjective. Existing computer-vision approaches based on object detection or instance segmentation perform poorly on close-range RGB imagery of soybean canopies due to severe occlusions, ambiguous plant boundaries, and the high cost of bounding-box annotation. To address these challenges, we propose a ...

Modeling weather-resilient laser communication: PPM performance with SNSPD in satellite links
Merzlinkin V., Khmelev A. V., Севрюков Д. О. et al., St. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics 2025 No. 3 P. 205–209
Laser communication using satellites represents a promising avenue for data transmission in geographically distant areas without advanced infrastructure. This approach is characterized by its high transmission rate and low power requirements, providing substantial benefits over optical fiber and radio communication. However, the optical channel should exhibit greater transparency for light transmission, resulting in a severely restricted application of this technique for information ...

Enhancing Boundary Stability in Decision Trees and Random Forests: A Weighted Sample Duplication Approach
Konstantinov A., Elizarova Anastasiya P., Utkin L., Computing, Telecommunications and Control 2026 Vol. 19 No. 1 P. 16–25
Decision trees and their ensemble extensions, such as random forests, are widely used as classification models due to their simplicity and interpretability. However, in many real-world tasks where class labels overlap in the feature space, standard decision trees rely on hard splits that create fragile decision boundaries. In these regions, small perturbations in the input ...

A Survey of Delay-Oriented Dynamic Link Scheduling Policies for 5G/6G Integrated Access and Backhaul Systems
Zhivtsova A., Beschastnyi V., Koucheryavy E. et al., IEEE Access 2024 Vol. 12 P. 118565–118586
Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) is expected to become a key part of the 5G and future cellular systems enabling cost-controlled network densification. IAB relies upon multi-hop relaying, which makes delay a critical factor, especially for the half-duplex operational regime where only a subset of access and backhaul links can be scheduled simultaneously. Numerous dynamic ...

Susloparov M., Krasilov A., Khorov E., IEEE Communications Letters 2024 Vol. 28 No. 9 P. 2211–2215
Emerging eXtended Reality (XR) applications impose strict requirements on throughput, delay, and reliability, which limits the capacity of 5G systems operating only in one band, i.e., either a sub-6-GHz band or a mmWave one. To address this problem, the letter considers a scenario with a mixture of XR and broadband traffic and explores how to ...
