Проблемы формирования идентичности корё сарам в России
On the basis of the analysis of two Russia's Federal Laws, namely the Law on Public Associations № 82-ФЗ (19.05.1995) and the Law on National-Cultural Autonomy № 74-ФЗ (17.06.1996), and the Supreme Soviet Decree on Rehabilitation of Russian Koreans (1993), this article traces the formation and subsequent evolution of Korean ethnic identity Koryo Saram in post-communist Russia. In contemporary Russia, the relations with the Russian state authorities and the latter's level of trust towards Korean ethnic community is paramount. The author examines the identity problems characteristic for modern Russian Koreans and the role that public organization’s play in overcoming these challenges. The author specifically emphasizes the Korean youth movement in Russia and its attempts to re-discover its cultural identity and heritage.
