Синтаксический статус аргументов предикативной посессивной конструкции в урмийском новоарамейском идиоме
The present paper discusses the syntactic statuses of the core argumentsin the predicative possessive construction in Neo-Aramaic Urmi dialect. The study analyses a diachronic hypothesis which states that the possessee is an “old” subject which has grammaticalized as direct object, while the previously topical possessor is a “new” subject. The syntactic properties of both arguments are considered based on the eleven criteria for subjecthood proposed in (Keenan, 1976). According to the data obtained through elicitation in the village Urmia (Krasnodar krai, Russia), the conclusion is made that both the possessee and the possessor demonstrate the properties that are
characteristic of prototypical subjects in the dialect under discussion.
