Этический либерализм Бенедетто Кроче
The value of Benedetto Croce in the spiritual life of Italy in the 20th century is undoubtedly considerable and undisputed. His liberal political views have played an important role in shaping the political culture of a country where philosophical thought has significantly influenced social life and opinions of the intellectuals in the last century. The notoriety of Croce and the influence exerted by his thought on the minds of some generations of Italian intellectuals were so great as to induce Antonio Gramsci to call Croce the "secular pope" of Italian intellectuals. Anti-fascism Croce was of particular importance for the political self-determination of Italian intellectuals. Croce took up this anti-fascist position after the establishment of an undisguised fascist dictatorship in 1925, while parting with some of his illusions about the "new power" that he had harbored in the first half of the 1920s. This article is dedicated to the Crocean conception of "ethical liberalism" elaborated in the second half of the 1920s which is based on the idea of freedom as the main moral ideal of modernity.
