The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

The Digital Economy, Cyber Security and Russian Criminal Law

P. 851–856.
Денисова А. В., Бортников С. П.

All branches of law are constantly under the influence of the social environment, especially national politics and economy, and therefore the author has set the goal of studying the impact of the development processes of the digital economy of the Russian Federation on the Russian criminal law as an important component of cyber security. The author describes the problems hindering the development of the Russian digital economy, which can be resolved using criminal law instruments. The study revealed the gaps in the Russian criminal law regarding the socially dangerous acts committed with the use of modern information technologies. The paper shows the importance of intersystem relations to the national digital economy and Russian criminal law for lawmaking work and their impact on the effectiveness of the branch. The authors proposed to criminalize some socially dangerous acts committed with the use of modern information technologies, considering the traditions of national lawmaking and the successful experience of the international community and the foreign countries in countering of cybercrimes.

Statistical Model Checking of Distance Fraud Attacks on the Hancke-Kuhn Family of Protocols
Alturki M., Kirigin T. B., Nigam V. et al., , in: Proceedings of the 2018 Workshop on Cyber-Physical Systems Security and PrivaCy.: ACM, 2018. P. 60–71.
Distance-bounding (DB) protocols protect against relay attacks on proximity-based access control systems. In a DB protocol, the verifier computes an upper bound on the distance to the prover by measuring the time-of-flight of exchanged messages. DB protocols are, however, vulnerable to distance fraud, in which a dishonest prover is able to manipulate the distance bound ...
