Rust Language for Supercomputing Applications
P. 391–403.
Bychkov A., Nikolskiy V.
Rust is a promising compiled programming language that has gained in popularity in recent years, as well as support from corporations. It allows one to create efficient code, but it also provides a higher level of security and predictability. In this paper, we study how Rust is currently ready for building supercomputing applications. Performance testing when creating new code, using math libraries, and using multithreading shows that the language is capable of delivering C++-level performance without any special effort. MPI benchmarking on the cluster shows that the technology does work without the overhead.
