‘This Format Turned Each Presentation Into a Collaborative Effort to Assess the Robustness of the Study
On October 16, 2026, HSE ICEF hosted the Eighth International Conference on Applied Economics. Held fully on-site, the conference brought researchers from HSE University, the New Economic School, Wuhan University, and Shandong University together in Moscow. The programme was organised around three overarching themes— ‘Environment, Resources and Policy,’ ‘Migration, Labour, and Communication,’ and ‘Consumption, Behaviour, and Climate—offering an opportunity to see how similar economic mechanisms operate in China, Pakistan, the United States, and Russia.

X‐rays in diamond photonics: a new way to control charge states of color centers

Physica Status Solidi (A) Applications and Materials. 2022.
Sektarov E., Седов В. С., Boldyrev K.

This work is focused on the investigation of the X-ray’s interaction with the color centers in diamond. X-rays have the high penetrating power of radiation, which allows performing unhindered modifications deeply in the bulk of diamond crystals. Here, we show that X-rays irradiation of diamond can change the charge states of its defects, including Silicon-Vacancy (SiV) and NitrogenVacancy (NV) color centers. By studying low-temperature absorption spectra, it has been shown that negatively charged SiVand NVcenters partially transform into neutrally charged SiV0 and NV0 centers, accordingly. In addition, we registered new absorption lines, which may belong to other charge states of color centers. The results open a new way for the study of charge states for defects in various crystals (not limited to diamond), as well as allow the control over the charge state of color centers for diamond-based quantum optics.

Accurate prediction of complex formulation viscosity is crucial for the lubricant industry and engineering processes. However, developing generalizable models remains challenging due to the complexity of industrial mixtures and the scarcity of public experimental data, often resulting from corporate proprietary restrictions. This study presents a machine-learning workflow for viscosity estimation from a proprietary pseudonymized dataset, ...

The concept of representative volume (REV, or RVE in material sciences) is the cornerstone of continuum scale models – one needs to get the volume big enough so that it could be represented with an averaged value (scalar, vector or tensorial, etc.). From frozen Coulomb decoherence to thermalization: Classical and quantum density-matrix routes to Balescu–Lenard and Landau kinetics
Budkov Y., Annals of Physics 2026 Vol. 495 No. 3 Article 170796
We study the density-matrix kinetics of a charged test particle in two types of Coulomb environment. For a prescribed Gaussian potential, averaging the random-unitary dynamics leads to a Born–Novikov memory equation; Novikov’s identity is exact, but its closure requires a second-order approximation. An equilibrium quantum bath instead yields a Born–Redfield equation with ordered correlators and ...

In the new paper, wave solutions to the considered system ...

We derive the local pressure tensor generated by the original Rosenfeld fundamental measure theory (FMT) for hard-sphere fluids from an arbitrary infinitesimal deformation. The variation of a finite-distance FMT kernel is written via the line integrals of the local deformation gradient along the straight segment connecting its end points. The resulting symmetric pressure tensor consists ...

Toward probing of the local electron–phonon interaction in small-molecule organic semiconductors with Raman spectroscopy
Тукачев Н. В., Nuraliev M., Parashchuk O. et al., Journal of Chemical Physics 2020 Vol. 153 No. 17 Article 174303
Electron–phonon interaction strongly affects and often limits charge transport in organic semiconductors (OSs). However, approaches to its experimental probing are still in their infancy. In this study, we probe the local electron–phonon interaction (quantified by the charge-transfer reorganization energy) in small-molecule OSs by means of Raman spectroscopy. Applying density functional theory calculations to four series ...

Тукачев Н. В., Sosorev A., Parashchuk O. et al., Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics 2021 Vol. 23 No. 29 P. 15485–15491
Dynamic disorder manifested in fluctuations of charge transfer integrals considerably hinders charge transport in high-mobility organic semiconductors. Accordingly, strategies for suppression of the dynamic disorder are highly desirable. In this study, we suggest a novel promising strategy for suppression of dynamic disorder—tuning the molecular electrostatic potential. Specifically, we show that the intensities of the low-frequency ...

The neutrally charged silicon-vacancy defect (SiV0) is a colour centre in diamond with spin S = 1, a zero-phonon line (ZPL) at 946 nm and long spin coherence, which makes it a promising candidate for quantum network applications. For the proper performance of such colour centres, all of them must have identical optical characteristics. However, in practice, there ...
