Fair and consistent prize allocation in competitions
Management Science. 2023. Vol. 69. No. 6. P. 3319–3339.

Given the ranking of competitors, how should the prize endowment be allocated? This paper introduces and axiomatically studies the prize allocation problem. We focus on consistent prize allocation rules satisfying elementary solidarity and fairness principles. In particular, we derive several families of rules satisfying anonymity, order preservation, and endowment monotonicity, which all fall between the equal division rule and the winner-takes-
all rule. Our results may help organizers to select the most suitable prize allocation rule for rank-order competitions.

The study quantitatively assesses the impact of sanctions on the Russian economy from 2022 to 2024 by estimating the losses due to sanctions and identifying the factors that shaped GDP during this period. The assessment is based on a vector autoregressive model with exogenous variables (VARX). The model examines GDP and its key components: gross fixed ...

We provide four equivalent combinatorial conditions for a simple assembly graph (rigid vertex graph where all vertices are of degree 1 or 4) to have the largest number of Hamiltonian sets of polygonal paths relative to its size. These conditions serve to prove the conjecture that such a maximum, which is equal to 𝐹_(2𝑛+1) −1, ...

This article demonstrates that the Laplace–Bessel operator generates a strongly continuous
semigroup on a weighted Lebesgue space. Using this semigroup, we define the fractional Laplace–
Bessel operator via Balakrishnan’s formula. Furthermore, we derive three distinct representations for
fractional powers of the negative Laplace–Bessel operator. ...

In this paper, we introduce a new construction of fractional derivatives and integrals
with respect to a function, based on a matrix approach. We believe that this is a powerful
tool in both analytical and numerical calculations. We begin with the differential
operator with respect to a function that generates a semigroup. By discretizing this
operator, we obtain a matrix ...

Purpose
The application of digital technologies in food information is profoundly transforming how consumers access, interpret and use nutritional information. This paper systematically reviews digital technologies integrated into food labelling systems and evaluates their impact on consumer behaviour, transparency and informed decision-making.

In the face of rising sustainability expectations and limited resources, startups must balance financial objectives with ESG (environmental, social, and governance) goals under uncertainty. This study examines how ESG behavior influences external resource acquisition, financing choices, and strategic outcomes in early-stage enterprises. Drawing on the entrepreneurial learning perspective, we argue that startups refine ESG strategies ...

The convergence of energy transition and digitalization represents two pivotal trends in the global economy that complement each other. The decrease in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is facilitated by larger Internet access and more substantial investments in research and development. This study sheds light on the dual impact of digitalization and innovation on CO2 emissions ...

we prove the existence of an isomorphism that is computable using oracles for the regular realizability

We investigate how stochastic Poisson impulsive forcing influences the spatiotemporal dynamics of a two-dimensional network of Hindmarsh–Rose neurons. Unlike continuous noise, impulsive forcing introduces discrete, state-dependent perturbations, making the system response highly sensitive to both the statistics and the spatial structure of the input. In most of the parameter space, stochastic impulses destabilize the initial ...

This paper reports on two flash-mode experiments that test redundant descriptions of small (2–4) cardinalities, borderline (5–8) cardinalities, and color in referential communication. It provides further support for the idea that small cardinalities are more salient (due to subitizing), less sensitive to visual context, and therefore give rise to higher over-specification rates than color. Because ...
