Simulation of a Frequency Selective Surface with Fractal Jerusalem Cross Unit Cells
Electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures has a wide range of applications in modern microwave devices. One of the most popular EBG structures is mushroom-like frequency selective surface (FSS). Due to its unique properties, it can exhibit a rejection around its resonant frequency. In this paper a dual rejection band FSS is designed and simulated. The unit cells of the proposed FSS are Jerusalem crosses of two different characteristic sizes – 8 mm and 16 mm. The unit cells are placed on dielectric substrate in staggered order and are connected to the ground plane on the bottom layer of the substrate. The proposed FSS exhibits two rejections bands associated with two characteristic sizes of the unit cells. Surface, normal and angular wave propagations were simulated using CST Studio Suite.
