The article presents results of the study of communication channels of public authorities to assess them and identify prospects for their digital transformation. A comparative analysis of communication channels showed that the most voluminous in terms of the number of messages are social media, but this channel is inferior to social media in terms of the number of views and calls to messages posted in social networks. Digital transformation of communication channels consists in the collection and processing of digital data, which will be most productive in web environment. Currently Russian government departments take advantages from popular social media just partly, so the web communication channels are still having great prospects for development of interaction with citizens.
