The following paper discusses textuality in a situation of the changing digital environment when a border between text and other media can be broken easily. We studied some textuality related changes examining different zones of diffusion where text and other media are combined. To do this we conducted the empirical analysis of several zones of diffusion where text attributes are changing. The following zones were examined: source code, data visualization and interface. For each of them a text item can be allocated as the main component and read on its own but its new functionality appears when combining with other media. The study addresses how a text item is combined with the abovementioned elements and implements its communication functions. We chose source code from HSE site, visualization of one «The Emancipated Spectator’s» chapter and visualization of metaphorical links in the English language, «Telegram’s» interface. We also examined how theoretical understanding of the researched zones and text items refracts the study on the combination of text and action. As a result we came to the conclusion that in code text is equal with action, in interface text points action, in data visualization text is the result of action.
