Забытые пути миротворчества: рецензия на сборник «Мир и война: исторические, философские и антропологические перспективы»

This article is a summarizing review (in Russian) of the book «Peace and War» recently published in English. The book is a collection of peace and war studies, it contains reflections on possible ways of peacemaking today, since many ways of peacekeeping have not been philosophically considered or sufficiently conceptualized. The authors reproduce main arguments used by the team of philosophers who suggest an alternative view on the ways of peacekeeping. It is claimed that philosophical reflection on the problems of war and peace can help us to find out the current ways to a state of peace and welfare, and to prevent hidden manifestations of violence in our everyday life. The philosophers focus on concepts of “violence” and “contention”, and draw the attention to social problems of modern times, such as social inequality, discrimination and injustice, putting them in the context of the total war threat. Thus, the book offers an interdisciplinary approach to the issue of war and peace, including historical, anthropological and philosophical studies. The review gives a critical analysis of the key features presented by those aspects: from ancient religious practices to the problematic issues of modern education. Last but not least, the article highlights the thesis of the book reviewed: education is a fundamental premise of successful peacemaking.
