In this work, the effect of work hardening of the surface layer of an alloy with the composition Fe-8% Cr on the sizes of coherent scattering regions along different crystallographic directions was investigated using the method of X-ray diffraction. It was found that, upon surface work-hardening, the difference in the CSR sizes between planes (100) and (110) is especially noticeable, and the dependences of CSR sizes on the size of the abrasive grain for lines (110) and (220) are almost identical. The results obtained correspond to the theoretical concepts of plastic deformation processes in iron-based bcc substitutional solid solutions.
