Средневековые корейские источники о Японии
The article considers the medieval Korean sources about Japan before Hideyoshi`s invasion.
Particular attention is paid to “Nosongdang's Ilbon Haengnok” (“The records of Nosondang`s Journey to Japan”) and “Haedong chegukki” (“Accounts of the Lands East of the Sea”), written in the 15th century. The first book-length compilation of the diplomatic documentation – “Zenrin Kokuhōki” (“Account of Good Neighborly Relations as a Treasure of Our Country”) was completed in Japan in 1470. However, the density of the information about the neighboring country varies significantly both in Japanese and Korean sources. Therefore, the following questions arise: What was the subject of the description by Korean and Japanese authors? How did their primary goals and settings differ? Which historical and cultural realities were behind such differences?
