Doctoral Student at HSE University Reveals Hidden Layout of Ancient Parion
İdil Malgil, a researcher at HSE University, conducted a UAV-based LiDAR survey of the ancient Roman city of Parion in present-day Turkey. The high density of the scans allowed the team to detect subtle terrain features concealed beneath the ground and vegetation. The survey revealed traces of entire neighbourhoods, terraced structures, and walls that had remained invisible during routine excavations and could not be identified through aerial photography. The findings have been published in Ancient Civilizations from Scythia to Siberia.

Neurolinguists Assist in Awake Surgery on 11-Year-Old Patient with Epilepsy
Researchers at the HSE Centre for Language and Brain took part in a rare awake neurosurgical procedure performed on an 11-year-old patient with drug-resistant epilepsy. Working alongside surgeons at the Voyno-Yasenetsky Centre of Specialised Medical Care for Children in Solntsevo, they monitored the resection of a portion of the left temporal lobe, where the epileptic focus had been identified.

Group Key Management in Cloud for Shared Media Sanitization

P. 117–120.
Shukla M. K., Dubey A. K., Upadhyay D., Novikov B.

Cloud provides a low maintenance and affordable storage to various applications and users. The data owner allows the cloud users to access the documents placed in the cloud service provider based on the user's access control vector provided to the cloud users by the data owners. In such type of scenarios, the confidentiality of the documents exchanged between the cloud service provider and the users should be maintained. The existing approaches used to provide this facility are not computation and communication efficient for performing key updating in the data owner side and the key recovery in the user side. This paper discusses the key management services provided to the cloud users. Remote key management and client-side key management are two approaches used by cloud servers. This paper also aims to discuss the method for destroying the encryption/decryption group keys for shared data to securing the data after deletion. Crypto Shredding or Crypto Throw technique is deployed for the same.

Research on learner engagement in massive open online courses (MOOCs) has predominantly focused on those developed by educational and non-profit organizations. However, the significance of MOOCs offered by IT service providers (vendors), particularly in the field of cloud computing, has gained prominence in recent years. These vendor-led courses facilitate interaction between learners and vendors, underscoring the ...

Formalization and taxonomy of compute-aggregate problems for cloud computing applications
Chuprikov P., Davydov A., Kogan K. et al., Computer Networks 2021 Vol. 189 Article 107915
Efficient representation of data aggregations is a fundamental problem in modern big data applications, where network topologies and deployed routing and transport mechanisms play a fundamental role in optimizing desired objectives such as cost, latency, and others. In traditional networking, applications use TCP and UDP transports as a primary interface for implemented applications that hide ...
