One of the significant issues related to the maritime industry is the effective resolution of disputes in the field of merchant shipping. The Maritime Arbitration Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (MAC) has significant experience in administering arbitration of disputes arising in this area. In terms of the level of arbitration proceedings, MAC is comparable with the world's leading maritime arbitration institutions. At the same time, in terms of the cost of arbitration proceedings, primarily in terms of the amount of arbitration fees, the MAC is often a more attractive body than many foreign alternatives.
The 2017 MAC Rules take into account the experience of dispute resolution in the MAC and global trends in arbitration. The article examines the features of the 2017 MAC Rules in comparison with the previous 2007 Rules. Also, an overview of the first years of the practice of its application is made.
