The Article deals with the scope of the notion «personal status» (status of individual) for the purposes of recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments. It addresses the legal regime of the said judgments in the Soviet law. Further, the Author touches upon the history of adoption of Art. 415 of the Civil Procedure Code of Russia and its interrelation with the analogous provisions of foreign law. On the basis of the carried research the Author concludes that the notion «personal status» (status of individual) includes both the issues of capacity as well as family relations (adoption, paternity and other related matters).
