Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) can lead to severe health consequences, so the study of the mechanism of their occurrence is an urgent task. When applied to TBI, this means the study of movement, acceleration, deceleration, and mechanical loads applied to the brain of a biological organism. Traditionally, two parameters are used to describe the biomechanics of impacts – linear and angular acceleration after a collision. Probabilistic estimates of injury can be obtained based on one type of acceleration – angular or linear, or as a combined function of both accelerations. The latter approach seems more promising, since real headbutts always involve a combination of these two factors. It is important to definitively determine the impact of accelerations both for the assessment of sports-related injuries and for the prevention of injuries in road accidents.
